Poombarai is a village located in the heart of Kodaikanal hill, just 18 km from Kodaikanal.

It is coming under ANJUR (Poombarai, Kookal, Pallangi, Vilpatti and Puththoor ( Pudhupudur & Palampudur)Other neighbour ETTUR ( Kavunji, Mannavanur, Poondi, Polur, Kilavari, Kumbur, Manjampatti & Keelanavayal)

Poombarai is famous for its Poondu (garlic).

Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple.

Every year Poombarai celebrates THER THIRUVIZHA (car festival) for Lord Murga. It falls on Kettai nakshatra which comes after Thaip Poosam. Normally in Thai or Maasi month.02 Feb 2008 .
