East Leeds History and Archaeology Society

The East Leeds History and Archaeology Society (ELHAS) is based in Crossgates, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Membership is open to everyone with an interest in the historical heritage.

Aims and objectives

The Society exists to research and promote knowledge of the past through lectures, courses and archaeological activity. In addition to organising meetings & lectures, field-walking & archaeology workshops, the Society also runs the East Leeds Heritage Centre at Cross Gates Library, where regular displays and exhibitions take place, and educational courses are also held.

The Society is run by a President and Directorate, elected every three years at a General Meeting, which all members are allowed to attend and vote at. In addition, all members are eligible to stand for election to the Directorate and to serve on any sub-committee that takes their interest.

Membership

All members of the Society receive the Leeds History Journal and are entitled to discounts on Society publications and heritage tours. The categories of membership are as follows:

Full Membership; £8.00: Family Membership, (2 Adults sharing one journal); £12.00: Concessionary Membership, (Under-18s, over-60s & students); £6.00: Life Membership; £40.00.
