Emperor Hailingwang of Jin

Emperor Hailingwang of Jin

Emperor Hailingwang of Jin (1122 - 1161) was emperor of the Jin Dynasty which controlled northern China from 1149 to 1161. His birth name was Wányán Liàng (完顏亮). He implied the policy of sinicization of Jurchens, which was reversed by his successor, emperor Shizong of Jin.

In his pursuit to become the "real Chinese", entitled to rule all over the Heavenly Kingdom, Hailing ordered to burn down the old Jurchen capital, Huining, and moved the court to Yanjing (modern Beijing).
