website = http://www.casady.org Casady School was founded in 1947 by Bishop Thomas Casady and the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. It is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory school located inOklahoma City, Oklahoma . Casady serves children in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th. Casady believes in educating mind, body, and spirit. As of July 1, 2008, the school's Headmaster is Christopher Charles Bright.History
In September 1947, Casady Hall opened its doors for the first time. Thirty-six students in three grades - seventh, eighth, and ninth - and four faculty members shared 38 acres which included a small lake, a house, and two barns. Tuition was $500 per year.
In 2007, Casady's enrollment grew to more than 875 students and 115 faculty members throughout the 29-building college campus-like atmosphere on 80 acres now in the heart of Oklahoma City.
Academics
The senior class of 2007 produced five National Merit Semi-Finalists and five National Merit Finalists. The class of 2007 also produced higher average SAT and ACT test scores than the state or national averages. The senior class of 2008 has continued the tradition of academic excellence by producing four National Merit Semi-Finalists and over 20 AP Scholars.
Many Casady graduates attend the nation's most prestigious and selective colleges and universities, and virtually all graduating seniors go on to post-secondary education. Recent Casady graduates have enrolled in Harvard University, Georgetown University, Wake Forest University, Northwestern University, Grinnell College, Swarthmore College, Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, Stanford University, Princeton University, University of Central Oklahoma, and many other elite schools. In 2007, 100 percent (all 85 graduates) entered four-year colleges and universities.
The school’s mission, philosophy and core values create an educational environment emphasizing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Recognizing its leadership in these areas, the Malone Family Foundation awarded Casady School with a $2 million scholarship endowment in May 2006. Created for students in grades seven through 12 who demonstrate outstanding abilities as well as financial need, the scholarship enables qualified young adults to benefit from an independent education.
Casady was chosen to receive this prestigious endowment because of the sense of community it inspires in each student, faculty and staff member, according to Cathie Wlaschin, administrator of the Foundation. Additionally, Wlaschin cites Casady’s strong slate of AP courses, as well as its above-level core curriculum, as the foundations for its position as “unquestionably the best school in Oklahoma.”
Athletics
Casady students have the option to choose from 21 different sports that are offered. Boys have 11 sports to choose from while girls have 10 sports to choose from. Casady School is a competing member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference.
Casady offers more sports teams to students than any other public or private school in the state of Oklahoma.
Since 1956 Casady has won 132 SPC championships.
Religion
After the school was renamed Casady School on May 26, 1948, the Chapel of St. Edward the Confessor was completed thanks to the generosity of Frank Johnson Hightower. Ever since, the chapel has been the spiritual center of Casady School. Today, more than six hundred daily services are conducted during the school year, involving students of all ages. The community celebrations of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter have a firm tradition. The chapel is also used for baptisms, weddings, funerals and celebrations in the lives of members of the Casady family throughout the year.
