Jewish outreach

Jewish outreach

Jewish outreach is a widely-used term used to translate the Hebrew word "kiruv" or "keruv" (literally, "to draw close"). "Outreach" is roughly equivalent to missionizing, except that Judaism usually does not seek converts. Efforts are rather directed at Jews who have "gone astray," or who have been born Jewish in a non-observant family. ("See Who is a Jew?") How "outreach" is interpreted and actualized by various "denominations" of Judaism is variously covered in the following articles:

*Outreach in Conservative Judaism
*Outreach in Orthodox Judaism
*Outreach in Reform Judaism
