Vic Kohring (born 1958) is a former Republican Alaska State legislator. He was elected to seven consecutive two year terms in the State House, beginning in 1994. Kohring represented District 14,
Wasilla .Kohring was indicted for federal bribery and extortion charges on
May 4 ,2007 . He, along with former state legislatorsPete Kott andBruce Weyhrauch are accused of soliciting and accepting bribes fromVECO , an Alaskan oilfield services company. Kohring resigned from his seat onJune 20 2007 , and GovernorSarah Palin recently appointed his successor.On November 1, 2007, a federal jury found Kohring guilty of 3 of the 4 counts brought against him. He was acquitted on a charge of extortion. In May 2008 he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
