Biblioteca Cervantina

The Cervantine Library (Biblioteca Cervantina) is a public library located within the Monterrey Campus of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM). It holds one of the largest collections of incunabula, as well as historic manuscripts, artifacts and photographs devoted to the history of Mexico and the city of Monterrey during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Located in the "Rectoria" building (Dean's tower) in the Monterrey Campus, the Cervantine Library holds different collections devoted to specific topics.

Coleccion Cervantina Carlos Prieto

Over a thousand copies of the classic Spanish novel "El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha", including versions in Spanish and translations in nearly one hundred languages, including English, Japanese, Hebrew and Latin. The collection features all the old Mexican editions of El Quijote, as well as a copy edited in Brussels in 1607 and another edited in Milan in 1610.

Coleccion Conde - Zambrano

A valuable collection of over 5,000 documents and 3,500 photographs about the history of Mexico.

Coleccion Fotografica Jesus R. Sandoval

Over 4,000 positives and 8,000 negatives portraying social life in Monterrey between 1896 and 1940.

Coleccion Isauro Villarreal Garcia

More than a thousand images taken between 1920 and 1960, capturing the urban and natural landscape of the region.

Coleccion Fotografica Desiderio Lagrange

A recently acquired collection of photographs capturing social life in Monterrey between 1870 and 1910.

Coleccion Ignacio Bernal

With over 45,000 volumes, this is one of the most important collections in the world about Mexican indigenous languages. It contains several essays about archeology and field research from early European explorers in Mexico. It has several books edited before 1601, including many original editions and manuscripts chronicling life during colonial times.

Coleccion Salvador Ugarte

One of the richest, most valuable and best organized collections in the world about Mexican indigenous culture. Contains volumes printed during the 16th century, as well as the Second Letter of Columbus, edited in Basel in 1494 and the only known complete collection of the Gazeta de Mexico (1722 - 1822).

Coleccion Hermanos Guajardo

About 500 books written by foreign authors during their voyages to Mexico since the Colony.

Coleccion de Ceramica y Objetos Prehispanicos

Hundreds of pieces from prehispanic Mexican civilizations.

Coleccion de Hierros de la Conquista

Common objects that show the essence of life in the Colony. The collection includes branding irons, swords, scissors, knives and several other tools and artifacts.

Coleccion Pedro Robredo

More than six thousand books on historical subjects, including rare manuscripts and publications.

Coleccion Conway

A large collection of prints and manuscripts in English and Spanish on a wide range of disciplines like history, geography and anthropology. The works in English include complete collections of The Americas and the Annual Reports of the Bureau of Ethnology.

Over 750 autographed photograps from some of the most important celebrities of the 20th century.

Coleccion Fotografica Alberto Flores Varela

A collection of photographs of churches and religious themes from 1929 to 1996.

Coleccion Fotografica Tecnologico Campus Monterrey

Over 2,000 photographs from various artists portraying life in the ITESM since its beginnings.
