The Prix André Baboin (Grand Prix des Provinces) is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. There is no fixed venue, as it is shared between the principal regional racecourses of France. Since 2003 it has alternated between Lyon-Parilly, with a distance of 2,000 metres (approximately 1¼ miles), and Bordeaux le Bouscat, where it is run over 1,900 metres (about 1 mile and 1½ furlongs). The event takes place annually in October.

The race was first run in 1982 and was initially titled the Grand Prix des Provinces. It was classed as a Group 3 event in 1984, thus becoming one of the very few French races of this status which takes place outside Paris or Deauville. The first three runnings were held at Bordeaux le Bouscat, Lyon-Parilly and Marseille-Borély – a sequence which was repeated until 2000.

In 1986 the race was given a new title, the Prix André Baboin. This was in memory of André Baboin (died 1985), the chairman of the "Société des Courses de Lyon" and also a committee member of the "Société d'Encouragement". Baboin was responsible for the construction of Lyon-Parilly Racecourse, a venue which was opened in 1965. There were two previous racecourses in or around Lyon. The first, "Grand Camp", opened in 1867 and was located in the Parc de la Tête d'Or. This venue closed in 1964. The second, at Villeurbanne, was opened in 1900 and is still presently used for racing.

Having been originally set at 2,000 metres, the distance of the Prix André Baboin was increased to 2,200 metres in 1987. It returned to 2,000 metres in 1993. It has continued at this length with the exception of the runnings at Bordeaux le Bouscat, where it is now contested over 1,900 metres.

In 2001 the event was run at Toulouse, its fourth venue. Unlike the other three, Toulouse is also the home of another race which holds Group status. This is the Prix Fille de l'Air, an event which takes place in November. Of the four tracks to have hosted the Prix André Baboin, all are right-handed except Marseille-Borély, which is left-handed.
