Map Resources

Map Resources is a private company located in Lambertville, NJ that produces Adobe Illustrator Format Maps.

History

Map Resources was founded in 1986 by Robert Dahl, a cartography student at Penn State University, Geography Department. The company was originally called MicroMaps, and produced a map program named MacAtlas for use with Mac Paint and MacDraw. The company changed its name to Cartesia Software, and branched out to other formats, including Adobe Illustrator, Pict, Hypercard, JPEG and GIF, and began producing maps for both Macintosh and Windows users. Cartesia Software changed its name to Map Resources on January 1, 2000, and focused on producing Adobe Illustrator format maps. Map Resources is a member of the Picture Agency Council of America, and the International Map Trade Neo.

Products

Maps produced by Map Resources work with Adobe Illustrator, a leading vector based graphic arts software application. Map Resources products are layered editable maps that can be used for print, multimedia and Web graphics. Adobe Illustrator allows users to edit maps by turning feature layers on and off, changing colors, text and line specs, and cropping custom areas. Map Resources maps are sold on a royalty free basis. Users purchase royalty free maps, then use them for an unlimited number of projects.

Map Resources produces a variety of maps of the world, continents, countries, regions, US states and counties, and cities. Most maps are available for immediate download, which is critical to the deadline driven graphic design industry.

Map Resources uses data from Navteq for map production.
