J-Horror Theater

J-Horror Theater

With the success of the Japanese film "Ring" (aka "Ringu"), a group of six directors were asked by producer Taka Ichise to create a film each to be released under the umbrella of J-Horror Theater.

As of 2007, five of the proposed six films have been released in the theater and the first three on DVD.

* "Infection" (aka "Kansen") by Masayuki Ochiai released: 02 October 2004. (Officially released in theatres and on DVD as part of J-Horror Theater)
* "Premonition" (aka "Yogen") by Tsuruta Norio released: 02 October 2004. (Officially released in theatres and on DVD as part of J-Horror Theater)
* "Reincarnation" (aka "Rinne") by Takashi Shimizu released: 07 January 2006. (Officially released in Japanese theatres as part of J-Horror Theater, on DVD and in US theaters as part of the Horrorfest 8 films to Die For 2006 series)
* "Retribution" (aka "Sakebi") by Kiyoshi Kurosawa released: 24 February 2007. (Not officially released as a J-Horror Theater entry.)
* "Kaidan" by Hideo Nakata Released: 4 August 2007 (Not officially released as a J-Horror Theater entry.)

Not announced:

* (unknown film) by Hiroshi Takahashi

It is safe to assume that this project has ceased with only three of the proposed six films released as part of the project. Press releases from [http://www.entertainmentfarm.biz/en/press/index.html Entertainment Farm] which has partly funded the J-Horror Theater series do not contain any further items regarding J-Horror Theater since Reincarnation's release in January 2006. This would seem to indicate the series is no longer on going or is at least stalled. The official web site for the project (www.j-horror.com) is no longer available. Before it's removal, the title page for the official web site for the series showed 6 door icons of which only three lead to information on a film in the series. The other three doors are smaller and did nothing. The official web sites for the films Kaidan and Sakebi do not mention J-Horror Theatre.
