Mimawarigumi

Mimawarigumi

The Mimawarigumi was a Tokugawa sided faction that fought during the Meiji Revolution. Their purpose was much like that of the Shinsengumi (who are more widely known), to protect the imperial city of Kyoto. While they seem to have never gained the same amount of prestige in their time, the Mimawarigumi was on friendly terms with the Shinsengumi.
