Audio Visual Centre (AVC) - Sri Lanka

The Audio Visual Centre (also called AVC for short) is the media centre for Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka and falls under the Extension and Training Division of the department. It was established in 1980.

It produces wide spectrum of audio visual materials (instructional media materials) ranging from low cost to high-tech and does computer related functions such as web designing and database programming which are intensely required for development of Agriculture in Sri Lanka, as well as conducts training programmes in the production and use of audio visual materials to improve skills in presentators who are involved in transfer of technology. It has a toll free agriculture advisory service having the tel no. 1920 for providing answers for agriculture related problems over phone. Recently (2007.07.16) it has opened a new kind of sale point which gives plant saplings and indigenous food items for reasonable prices.

The AVC is located in Peradeniya, close to the hill capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy.
