Hoyt Hilsman

Hoyt Hilsman is a director at the Hope Street Group, a bipartisan think tank of professionals who are committed to the equality of opportunity and economic growth.

Hoyt Hilsman was raised in Washington DC. Hilsman attended Columbia University and then went on to Columbia Law School.

After finishing law school Hilsman began working at the Federal Legal Services Program with the poor, unemployed and disabled at a state prison. He has been a contributor to the New York Times and Los Angeles Times.

Writings

Hoyt has written several plays and screenplays for major movie studios and television networks. He was part of NBC Daytime's Santa Barbara writing team.

Congressional Election of 2008

On July 8, 2007 Hoyt Hilsman announced he would be forming an exploratory committee before running in California's 26th congressional district in the 2008 Congressional Elections. David Dreier currently occupies the seat and will be running for re-election.

Hilsman announced in early March that he would not be entering the Democratic primary in the 26th, but that he would be actively supporting the Democratic ticket in many different ways in 2008.
