- Dallas Arbiter
-
Dallas Arbiter is a company formed by the merger of John E. Dallas and Sons musical instrument company and Arbiter Electronics. Dallas Arbiter Ltd. produced a number of guitar effects which changed the ordinary sound of the electric guitar into something more noticeable. This fit well with the newest musical styles of the time, so they became quite popular.
The "Fuzz Face" effect, which deliberately distorted the electric guitar's sound was used by some of the most popular musicians of the time, so they became highly sought after by other musicians, and to an extent remain so even today, fetching prices far larger than their original retail price, even after allowing for inflation. Originally issued by Arbiter Electronics, the Fuzz Face was later released as the "Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face"; it has been both reissued and much copied since then.
Dallas Arbiter was responsible for the release of other effects for electric guitar, such as the Wah Face and the Trem Face, as well.
