Major Marie Therese Rossi Cayton (January 3, 1959 – March 1, 1991) of Oradell, New Jersey, was during Desert Storm in 1991, the first American woman to fly in combat. She was born in New Jersey on January 3, 1959 as Marie Therese Rossi. Rossi was married to Chief Warrant Officer John Anderson Cayton, and she was killed when her Chinook helicopter crashed on March 1, 1991.
