Hartley Fort State Preserve

Hartley Fort State Preserve is a two-acre Iowa state preserve located on the Upper Iowa River in Allamakee County in the Driftless Area of Iowa. About seven miles upstream of the confluence of the Upper Iowa with the Upper Mississippi River, it sits on a terrace about 80 feet above the river.
The site is notable for remains of a fortified Native American settlement. The remains seem to be associated with the Oneota and Cahokia cultures of the Woodland period.
The land is privately owned. There is no public access.
