Design and development
The H3K was a development of the Short S.8/8 Rangoon, itself a military adaption of the Short Calcutta. The first of the H3K's was built by Short Brothers and the remaining 4 by Kawanishi in Japan. The engines were Rolls-Royce Buzzards and had to be imported into Japan.
