Gentianaceae , growing from thick white taproots. This species is much like Bottle Gentian ("Gentiana andrewsii ") except with an upright habit and yellowish-white colored flowers. Plants start to bloom a few weeks earlier than Bottle Gentian and the flowers are more open at the tops. Synonyms include "Gentiana flavida" A. Gray
