Sunetra Gupta

Sunetra Gupta

Indian English novelist and biologist.

Sunetra Gupta (1965) was born in Calcutta, yet most of her childhood she lived in Ethiopia and Zambia. Gupta has divided her career between science and literature. She was trained in biology, holding a bachelor's degree from Princeton and a Ph.D. from the University of London. Currently, she lives in the UK, being a Reader in epidemiology of infectious disease at Oxford University.

Gupta is the author of four novels, the latest of which was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction and won the Southern Arts Literature Prize.
