Cohousing in Tasmania

Cohousing in Tasmania currently consists of four groups.

Cascade Cohousing is the oldest established community, a strata title private equity development, while the Cohousing Co-operative Ltd is a partly government funded Community Housing Project. Both these cohousing projects are on the lower slopes of Mount Wellington.

Southern Cohousing is currently in development, having identified a parcel of land at Rosny on the Eastern Shore of Hobart.

Emita Cohousing is also currently in development; there is 19-acre (77,000 m²) of waterfront land at Lymington near Cygnet in the Huon Valley, south of Hobart. The land will be stratum titled in 9 blocks, and the foundation stone to the common house has been laid.
