- Triple Champion
In different sports when a sportsman wins three crowns, titles, medals, belts or another distinctions is called a Triple Champion. So, in Boxing a Triple Champion is that fighter that win professional world titles in at least three (3) different divisions or weights.
In the beginning of boxing there were just the original eight (8) divisions.
Example:
Bob Fitzsimmons (UK/NZ) was the first ever fighter to win world titles in three (3) different divisions in the history of boxing.In boxing there are currently seventeen (17) different divisions so now is more easier to any talented fighter to win one title in one starting weight division and move to other superior weights and win different titles.
The group that pick all the champions that won three different world straps in the same amount of weights divisions is called the
Triple Champion Club . Two different classifications are used to identify the Triple Champs: major titles and minor belts.ee also
