Born into a seafaring family, Adamson excelled in wood carving as a child. He studied at the
Imperial Academy of Arts underAlexander Bock between 1876 and 1881. Adamson lived and studied inParis between 1887 and 1891 and was influenced by the works ofJules Dalou andJean-Baptiste Carpeaux Works
The work of Adamson varies in style and material. He sculpted monuments in Estonia,
Saint Petersburg and theCrimea , as well as allegorical figures and portraits.* "Fisherman from the Island of
