Round 1

*Bulldogs' forward Sonny Bill Williams was sent off in the fourth minute of his 2007 season in the match against Newcastle, having made a hit on Newcastle captain Andrew Johns which was deemed to be a reckless high tackle. Williams pleaded guilty at the judiciary, and received a two-week suspension.
*South Sydney, who only won three games in the entire 2006 season, started season 2007 in a much more positive light, winning the first Monday Night Football match of the year.
*A number of high-profile players were injured in this round, including Newcastle's Andrew Johns, Manly's Steve Menzies, Matt Orford and Steve Matai, and Brisbane's Darren Lockyer.
*Penrith were held scoreless for the first time since Round 18, 1999.
*A total 185,051 people witnessed these eight matches, making this the round with the highest total attendance in the history of the competition (previous record was 171,526 for Round 22, 1995).

Round 4

* Australia's Channel 9's televised game of South Sydney vs Bulldogs was the first time Souths had a prime-time televised Friday night match since 2002. The 34,315 crowd was a record at Telstra Stadium, and the highest for a regular season game in Sydney since Round 1, 2002 (when South Sydney were readmitted into the competition).
* Cronulla's winning margin of 36 over the St George Illawarra was the biggest against that club in the Sharks' history, even including victories against the St. George Dragons and the Illawarra Steelers.
* South Sydney co-captain and kiwi international David Kidwell tore ligaments in his knee during the weekend at a family BBQ, an injury which has ended Kidwell's season.

Round 6

*Newcastle held special farewall celebrations for Andrew Johns in the home game against Brisbane, re-naming the East grandstand of EnergyAustralia Stadium the "Andrew Johns Stand". In addition, in a first for the NRL, his number 7 jersey was retired for the match with half back Jarred Mullen wearing number 18.
*The Gold Coast Titans were fined $5,000 after coach John Cartwright and football manager Scott Sattler approached the video referee during the team's loss to Manly.

Round 8

*Melbourne became the last club to lose a match in 2007 when they were defeated by the 2005 premiers, Wests Tigers. It was the Storm's first loss since the previous year's Grand Final.
*Bulldogs' goal-kicker Hazem El Masri reached the career total of 1,900 points for his team in the win over Newcastle, becoming only the sixth player in rugby league history to do so.
*Tigers five-eighth Benji Marshall succumbs to a shoulder injury, and is ruled out for 3 months.
*Broncos and Kangaroos prop Petero Civoniceva played his 200th NRL match (all of which have been for Brisbane).

Round 13

*A declared natural disaster across areas of New South Wales affected games and attendances throughout the round. The Friday night match at Telstra Stadium was played in a constant, heavy shower of rain. The match played in Newcastle was under threat of cancellation for much of Sunday morning after 300mm of rain had fallen in the area within four days. Many lower grade NSWRL matches were forced to be postponed to preserve grounds for first grade matches.
*The South Sydney Rabbitohs scored only two tries in the 14-4 win over the Penrith Panthers, played in the prevailing poor weather conditions.
*The Canberra Raiders scored four tries in the opening 12 minutes on their way to a 38-10 win over the Parramatta Eels.
*The last-placed Sydney Roosters achieved their highest score since 1935 in their 64-30 win over the North Queensland Cowboys.
*In the New Zealand Warriors' 300th game, the Warriors suffered their sixth straight loss, losing 4-2 against competition leaders the Melbourne Storm. The scoreline was 2-0 to New Zealand until the 72nd minute, when a decisive try sealed the match for Melbourne. It was the lowest aggregate score (six points total) since 1993.

Round 15

* Only weeks after celebrating their 300th match in first grade, the Warriors celebrate their 150th game at Mt Smart Stadium with their first Friday night game since 2004.
* Manly's 10-match winning streak at home was cut by the Bulldogs.
* The Warriors humiliated the Panthers 54-14, meaning a Dragons win by 12 points or more would send the 2003 premiers to last.
* The Melbourne Storm celebrated its' 10 year anniversary with a 28-6 victory over the Dragons. The Storms' weekend long celebrations started with the naming of its' team of the decade.
* Interestingly enough, Newcastle's W-L-W-L ratio (in the post-Johns era) continued into this round, defeated by the Gold Coast Titans.
*Brisbane won their first back to back matches for the first time this season.

Round 17

* The Broncos defeated the Gold Coast Titans 19-18 at Suncorp Stadium. Five-eighth Darren Lockyer kicked a golden point field goal after 81 minutes to secure victory for the reigning premiers in his 274th club game, equalling Michael Hancock's record for most games for Brisbane. The match also managed to attract 48,621 patrons, the second highest attendance of the season behind the Broncos Round 1 match against North Queensland.
* Penrith's poor season continued when the Wests Tigers defeated them convincingly at Telstra Stadium. The Panthers were leading 20-4 prior to half time before the Tigers scored 33 points in the second half to claim victory 43-26. Meanwhile, the Sydney Roosters' woes continued at the hands of Manly, the Brookvale-based club running away 56-0 winners. Not since before the NRL's inauguration in 1998 had the Sydney Roosters lost by more than fifty points.
* Dragons cast aside doubt about their young outfit, inflicting heavy defeat on Canberra by 58 points to 16 and celebrating their first back-to-back winning sequence for the season.
* Melbourne took the best part of 70 minutes before finally edging in front of a gutsy Rabbitohs side who were once in front 8-0 to win by just four points in a 8 to 12 scoreline.
* The Bulldogs celebrated their first hat-trick of wins for the season, coming from behind 12-0 at half time they scored 14 unanswered points afterwards and sneaked into the top eight at a cold and wet Toyota Park.
* Following Round 17, Aussie Stadium's naming rights deal expired, with the name reverting to the Sydney Football Stadium on July 8.
* On July 9 Sydney Roosters coach Chris Anderson resigned from the club, handing the role to former club great Brad Fittler.

Round 20

*The Roosters produced the upset of the season, defeating runaway leaders Melbourne 26-16. This loss allowed Manly to close within two points of the 2006 minor premiers, courtesy of a win over Parramatta.
*Controversy erupted at WIN Stadium when Bulldogs' Sonny Bill Williams stripped the ball from Ben Creagh and ran away to score. The Bulldogs won 28-24 and dashed the Dragons' finals hopes for 2007.

Round 23

*Brent Sherwin kicked a field goal to send his Bulldogs team into the top four for the first time this season, in their 25-24 defeat of the Brisbane Broncos.
*Cronulla's loss to the Wests Tigers was third time in as many weeks the side had been involved in a game decided by just a field goal.
*Newcastle's woes continued after another week of off-field turmoil, translating the bad press into bad form with a 46-12 loss at the hands of Penrith - and putting the club at risk of its second wooden spoon in the space of three seasons.
*The Canberra Raiders pulled off a massive upset only 6 days after suffering a record defeat by edging out the Warriors by 26-24 at Canberra Stadium. South Sydney also managed an upset with a six-point defeat of Manly Warringah.

Finals Series

*The 2007 Finals Series is once again to be based on the McIntyre format. There are significant changes in venues for weeks two and three, as finals matches are no longer held standard at the SFS or Telstra Stadium, but rather in home grounds, regions and cities as the weeks progress. The 2007 Grand Final remains at Telstra Stadium, as will be the case until at least 2012.

*Five of the eight clubs played in the finals last season. Of the other three, the New Zealand Warriors last appeared in the finals in 2003, North Queensland Cowboys played in the finals in 2005 when they were the runners up in the grand final and the South Sydney Rabbitohs will be making their first finals appearance since 1989.

*All rounds in the finals series are shown live on Channel 9, with the exception of the Warriors v Parramatta qualifying final in week one. As a reason cited for the delayed telecast, the time difference between New Zealand and eastern Australia was the culprit.
