The Giants made him their seventh round selection (the 213th player selected) in the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft and signed him June 8 of that year.

Misch was the starting pitcher for the Giants on August 4, mlby|2007, against the San Diego Padres. It was in this game that Barry Bonds hit his 755th home run, tying Hank Aaron for most all-time career home runs.
