Lyuba (Люба) is a female
woolly mammoth calf which died ca 40,000 years ago at the age of six months. Discovered inMay 2007 by reindeer breeder and hunter Yuri Khudi inRussia 's ArcticYamal Peninsula , it was named "Lyuba" after the discoverer's wife.
