Rantoul, Illinois ) is a former U.S.soccer player.Born in Illinois, Corpening grew up in
England where his father, a member of theUnited States Air Force was stationed. Corpening’s family moved toDixon, California and in 1987, he attendedCalifornia State University, Sacramento where he played on the men’s soccer team. That season, he scored nine goals and assisted on four others en route to earning second team Division II All American honors. San Francisco Bay Blackhawks of theWestern Soccer League (WSL). That season, he led the WSL in goals with eleven, earning second team All Star honors. In 1990, as a midfielder, his output declined to nine goals and in 1991, because of injury, he played only five games, scoring no goals. In 1995, Corpening spent a single season with theSacramento Knights of theContinental Indoor Soccer League (CISL).He was inducted into the Sac State Honor Roll in 2002.
