Keri (Greek, Modern: Κερί, Katharevoussa: -ον "-on"), older forms: -o and -on, also with an i accented is a village in the southern part of the island of
Zakynthos . Its 2001 population was 487 for the village and 680 for the municipal district. The municipal district includes the island's southernmost point,Cape Marathia . Keri was once the southernmost community in the island before become a part of the municipality of Laganas in the late-1990s.ettlements

Location and transportation
Keri is located between 20 and 25 km south-southwest of the town of Zakynthos, south of
Laganas and south-southeast ofVolimes . Keri is sometimes the southernmost terminus of the GR-35 (Zakynthos - Lagana) and the road north to Volimes.About Keri
Keri is situated on the southern part of the island and is in the southernmost part of the
Vrachiona mountains. Its area are mountainous and are mainly grassy and contains a few forests. Its rocky coastline dominates the area. Farmlands are within the village, it has a nearby lake.History
Keri was ruled by the Venetians until the
Napolenic Wars when it was controlled and ruled by the French until the British invasion near the end, theRussia ns and the Ottoman Turks also ruled during the wars, though theSeptinsular Republic was autonomous. Keri and the rest of the Ionian Islands formed a part of theUnited States of the Ionian Islands until 1864 which marked the end of the non-Greek rule, it finally ceded toGreece .After
World War II and theGreek Civil War , it was partially rebuilt, almost every building in the villages were completely destroyed in the1953 Ionian Earthquake , afterwards, the village were rebuilt by the late-1950s and 1960 to rebuilt everything and at the time connected with asphalt.
