His designs are mainly built in overseas plants that the American Guitar companies utilize in Asia. He was one of the first designers to use plastic pearloid as a material for guitar tops. In one of his trips to a guitar plant in Korea he noticed a large pile of guitar bodies waiting to get incinerated due to flaws and defects in the wood. He suggested using the pearloid material they use for pickguards as a laminated top. The material is inexpensive and readily available. Doing so it would hide all defects. Furthermore the labor and time is not wasted. Now the factories could turn what was once waste into profit. Parker built a prototype for the factory and the rest is history. Washburn and Daisy Rock(Stardust Elite model) have used Parker's designs for their product lines.Parker grew up in
Hacienda Heights ,California . His father, John W. Parker, invented the first self propelled scissor liftaerial work platform in 1968. Parker studied audio engineering under formerCBS President Brian Ingoldsby while working on the album "Hot Rats " byFrank Zappa . Parker presently splits his time residing inMurrieta , California andBristol ,England with his wife, and high school sweetheart, Gwendolyn.References
