Nimmer’s field of expertise is in intellectual property law. He has practiced law in the private section from 1985 to 1991 as Counsel at Sheinfeld, Maley and Kay, a Houston law firm and as Counsel at
Weil, Gotshal & Manges , a Houston law firm from 1992 to 1999.Nimmer is currently the Leonard Childs Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center and co-director of the Houston Intellectual Property and Information Law Institute. He is the Dean of the University of Houston Law Center having previously served as acting Dean and interim Dean.He is the author of twenty books and many law articles. Professor Nimmer is a frequent speaker in the United States and overseas in the areas of intellectual property, business and technology law. On September 28, 2006, he was the keynote speaker to the
