Shareware Industry Awards Foundation
- Shareware Industry Awards Foundation
The Shareware Industry Awards Foundation (SIAF) was formed in 1991 by Bob Ostrander (head of Public Brand Software), Paris Karahalios (head of Trius Inc), Randy MacLean (head of FormGen, Jim Perkins (FormGen's head of marketing), and Michael E. Callahan aka Dr. File Finder, in order to administer the Shareware Industry Awards and put on the annual Shareware Industry Conference. In 2007 the Shareware Industry Conference changed its name to the Software Industry Conference to better reflect the industry.
Formation of the Foundation
The Software Industry Conference website notes: "The five friends decided to create a private corporation called the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation (SIAF). This was done to protect the SIA logo and to give the foundation some legal stability. To also insure both stability and continuity, the co-founders decided they would run the awards for at least the first three years, if not longer.
