Edward Sloman Minor (
December 13 ,1840 -July 26 ,1924 ) was a U.S. Representative fromWisconsin .Born at
Point Peninsula, New York , Minor moved to Wisconsin in 1845 with his parents, who settled in Greenfield, Milwaukee County, and subsequently in the city of Milwaukee.He attended the common schools.He went with his parents to a farm in Sheboygan County in 1852 and engaged in agricultural pursuits.He completed a common-school education. Enlisted as a private in Company G,Second Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry, in 1861. Mustered out as first lieutenant in November 1865.He engaged in the hardware business inSturgeon Bay, Wisconsin from 1865 to 1884.He served as member of the Wisconsin assembly in 1877, 1881, and 1882.He served in the State senate 1883-1886 and as president pro tempore of the senate during the last term. Superintendent of the Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan Ship Canal 1884-1891.He served as member of the Wisconsin Fish Commission for four years.He served as mayor of Sturgeon Bay in 1894.Minor was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and to the five succeeding Congresses (
March 4 ,1895 -March 3 ,1907 ).He served as chairman of the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of the Interior (Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses).He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1906.He engaged in horticulture. Postmaster of Sturgeon Bay 1911-1915.He served as again mayor of Sturgeon Bay in 1918.He died atSturgeon Bay, Wisconsin ,July 26 ,1924 .He was interred in Bayside Cemetery.ource
