Suomenvedenpohja (Finnish, meaning "The end of the Finnish Water" - referring to the
Gulf of Finland ) is an end of the Bay of Viipuri - TheVyborg Bay in present-dayRussian Federation in the City ofVyborg in theLeningrad Oblast . The Bay of theViipuri is itself a bay of theGulf of Finland in FinnishSuomenlahti in theBaltic Sea . TheCastle of Vyborg is located by it. Also the Park Monrepos is located by Suomenvedenpohja. The old 1856 openedSaimaa Canal began in Suomenvedenpohja. Before 1944 it was located in the city of Viipuri and inmuncipality of Viipuri -Viipurin maalaiskunta inFinland Sources
