- Harvest Park Middle School
Harvest Park Middle School is a grade 6-8 formulated
middle school . It is one of the three middle schools in thePleasanton Unified School District along withHart Middle School andPleasanton Middle School . Harvest Park, also known as HP, in addition to its academic curriculum, emphasizes sports, such as wrestling, volleyball, basketball, golf, cheerleading, and track. HP also has several clubs such as the "Math Counts", "Fish Club", and the "Robotics Club". Harvest Park has a student body of over 1100 students. The students there are asked to follow what is called "CHRRIS" or Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, and Self Discipline. HPMS also offers extracurricular classes such as industrial technology, computers, art, quest, world languages (French and Spanish), band. 8th graders may also choose a leadership or service class or to become a T.A. (teacher's assistant). "Spirit days" are held every Friday, wherein the students are encouraged to wear the school colors (red, white, and blue).HPTV
Harvest Park has a daily presentation called, "HPTV", wherein any problems or important activities that are going on at the school are addressed. The media class students and teachers produce HPTV during the beginning of first period each morning. The students would read off a moving computer screen reading off the news. Sometimes they will be fun and enjoying videos for the students to watch.
2001 Harvest Park Boy's Basketball
In 2001 the 8th grade Harvest park boy's basketball team went 21-0 capping off a 56-0 run for the the 8th grade graduates of the 2001 team. Their closest game was an 8 point win over Pleasanton Middle School. The team was lead by Eric Pang, Nate Young, Keith Burton, Adam Sloustcher, Rob Learned, Matt Olivero and Matt Connors
The Laptop Program
Harvest Park was one of the first schools to support the "laptop program". The laptop program is now spreading through the Pleasanton Unified School District. In the laptop program, students each get their own laptop computer, either purchased or rented from the school, and they do most of their work on it. Some classes, such as P.E., math, and art don't use the laptop program, while classes such as English, history, science, and health do.
Go Green
Harvest Park is a "go green" school. It was also the first school in the United States to obtain its power from solar panels, and it has a successful recycling system and also uses recycable forks and spoons. Harvest Park also has a garden where Mrs. Jones and the ecology club manages.
CHRRIS
The "CHRRIS" (with two r's) program was started in an effort to promote a spirit of respect and community within the school. CHRRIS stands for compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity, and self-discipline.
