Louis C. Camilleri (b. 1955,
Alexandria ,Egypt ) is the Chairman and CEO ofAltria Group , the parent company ofPhilip Morris .Camilleri received a degree in economics and business administration from
HEC Lausanne , the prestigious business school of theUniversity of Lausanne (Switzerland ).After working as a business analyst with
W. R. Grace and Company , in Lausanne, Switzerland, Camilleri joined Philip Morris Europe in 1978 as a business development analyst. He held various positions of increasing authority involving the cigarette business in Europe and the Middle East. In December 1995, he was appointed president and chief executive officer of Kraft Foods International. He was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Philip Morris in November 1996.Camilleri became CEO of
Philip Morris , nowAltria Group , in April 2002. Philip Morris USA is the largest tobacco company in the United States, with about half of the U.S. cigarette market.Philip Morris International is a leading international tobacco company with seven of the top 20 global cigarette brands.Divorced and the father of three children, Camilleri speaks fluent English, French and Italian, and some German. His total compensation in 2005 was $6.7 million, and $17.01 million in 2006.
