Richard Hutten (born 1967
Zwollerkerspel ,The Netherlands ) is a Dutchdesigner . Hutten started his own design studio in 1991 inRotterdam after graduating from the Academy for Industrial Design inEindhoven ,The Netherlands .Hutten's work is part of the permanent collections of the
Centraal Museum Utrecht, theStedelijk Museum inAmsterdam , theVitra Design Museum inWeil am Rhein , and theSan Francisco Museum of Modern Art .Philippe Starck used some of Huttens designs for the interiors of theDelano Hotel Miami and theMondrian Hotel Los Angeles . His work has also been exhibited inMilan ,Cologne ,Paris ,London ,Berlin ,Weimar ,Toronto ,Ghent ,Verona (Abitare il Tempo),Amsterdam (Stedelijk Museum),Rotterdam (Kunsthal andMuseum Boijmans van Beuningen ), Utrecht (Centraal Museum), Den Bosch (Museum het Kruithuis),Breda (Museum De Beyerd),New York (Museum of Modern Art ),Copenhagen (Louisiana Museum),Helsinki (Industry Museum & Alvar Aalto Museum),Bremen (Ubersee Museum),Montreal ,Tokyo (Idée, E&Y),Osaka ,Stuttgart (Design Centre) andSan Francisco (Museum of Modern Art).Hutten is well-known for what he refers to as 'No sign of design' furniture: functional furniture in a highly conceptual and humorous style.
