"The Long Black Veil" is an album by the Traditional Irish Folk band The Chieftains. Released in 1995, it is one of the most popular and best selling albums by the band. It reached number 17 in the album charts. The band teamed up with well-known musicians such as Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones and Van Morrison. The Album went Gold in the U.S. and Australia, and Double-Platinum in Ireland. One of the tracks, "Have I Told You Lately" with Van Morrison and written by him, won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 1996.

Collaborators include Marianne Faithfull, Mark Knopfler, Mick Jagger, Ry Cooder, Sinéad O'Connor, Sting, The Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Van Morrison, and Arty McGlynn. Bono from the Irish supergroup U2 supposedly contributes vocals to the track "Long Black Veil" but, in a strange twist, he is not credited in the album credits. The information about his involvement comes from various news bits over the years, and mention of this album in discographies published by those who would know, like Niall Stokes. The lead vocals of the final mix are by Mick Jagger and The Chieftains. Originally, they had been performed by Bono, but were not used. That track had been recorded at Windmill Lane. Although Bono's vocals were not used, the instrumentals from that session were supposedly used, meaning it may be possible to hear Bono way back in the mix somewhere.Fact|date=September 2007

The Tennessee Waltz/Mazuka was recorded at Frank Zappa's studio not long before he died. There is video evidence (available as a bootleg called 'Salad Party') that a lot more was recorded during this session. Sadly none has yet seen the light of day.
