Leigh Sports Village is sports complex development near
Leigh, Greater Manchester ,England , which will include, among other facilities, a multi-use outdoor stadium, a multi-use gymnasium, residential housing, offices, and a campus for the Leigh branch of the Wigan & Leigh College.As of|September 2008 the village is still currently under construction. Once completed in 2008, the stadium located there will be used mostly for football and
rugby league matches, as it will host the home matches of bothLeigh Genesis F.C. and theLeigh Centurions , respectively. The new stadium will have a capacity of 10,000 people, and it will replace the current home field of both clubs, Hilton Park.In July 2007 it was announced that three local sporting legends would be honoured by having roads named after them. Tommy Sale,
Jimmy Ledgard and Geoff Turner were chosen for the honour and the roads would be known as Sale Way, Ledgard Avenue and Turner Way. It was also announced that Sale Way would be home to the new Stadium, 6th Form College and Sports Centre, Turner Way would be the new address of Leigh Harriers Athletics Club while Ledgard Avenue would accommodate the new Leigh East Clubhouse.External links
