Llanddulas (sometimes spelt, incorrectly, Llandulas) is a
village in Conwy county borough,North Wales midway betweenOld Colwyn andAbergele and next to the North Wales Expressway.The village lies beneath the
limestone hill ofCefn-yr-Ogof (669 ft). This hill has largecave s, andquarrying of limestone was formerly the main industry of the village, with crushed stone being exported from the 200 m longjetty .According to figures from the
2001 census , Llanddulas, combined with nearby villageRhyd y Foel , had apopulation of 1,572, with around 23% of the population having some knowledge of theWelsh language . It was also the location of a train accident in 1868 where 33 people died, still the worst rail disaster to have occurred in Wales.References
