The Hits Album 9 or Hits 9 as it is also known is a compilation album released by BMG, CBS and WEA in December 1988. It charted on December 17th. Unusually, this Hits album was released without the chronological 9 anywhere on the albums artwork, although it was listed as Hits 9 in "The Complete Book of the British Charts" due to the catalogue number 'CDHITS9'.

The album reached #5 in the UK Top 100 Album chart, although on January 14th 1989, compilation albums were excluded from the main chart and Hits 9 transferred to the new Compilation Top 20 for the rest of its run, peaking at #4.
