Joseph Crowdy

Major-General Joseph Porter Crowdy CB (born 19 November 1923) is a retired English soldier and military doctor, a former Commandant of the Royal Army Medical Corps.

Background and education

The son of Lt-Col. Charles R. Crowdy and his wife Kate Porter, Crowdy was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk (1933-1942), and the University of Edinburgh (1942-1947). He took the degrees of MB and BCh in 1947, and later a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (1956), Diploma in Public Health and Diploma in Industrial Health (both 1957).
