Eggs is a novel by Jerry Spinelli that was published in 2007. The story outlines a relationship that develops between two children that seemingly have little in common other than loneliness.

Plot

This is the first time David and Primrose meet, and despise their differences they hesitantly form a tight but tumultuous bond.

A 13-year-old girl, Primrose, and David, a 9-year-old boy,are two complicated and damaged kids. David lost his mom and doesn't want friends. Primrose lives with her crazy fortuneteller of a mother. Primrose is often embarrassed of her mom, and decides to move outside in a car instead of inside the house with her mother. They both cope with the fact that they lost someone important to them each, one parent.

This powerful novel of Newbery Medal-Winning author Jerry Spinelli has much to say about friendship, loss, and recovery.

Characters

*David - A nine-year-old boy who is described as very lonely and sensitive about his mother's death. David lives with his father and his grandmother, whom he dislikes because she tries to be his mother. *Primrose Dufee - A rebellious 13-year-old girl. David describes her as beautiful. She is often embarrassed by her mom, causing her to live in her "room", a broken down van, away from her real house. She moves back with her mother by the end of the story.
*Grandmother - An old, seemingly kindly woman who cares for David. She is always trying to help David but he doesn't see it the same way she does. They become more open and close to each other in the last few chapters of the novel.
*Madame Dufee - Primrose's mother. She is a fortune teller who tells everybody she sees "you will live a long and happy life".
*Refrigerator John - A man who Primrose and David go to see. He cares for them and they spend most of their time with him.
