Pierre Barrieu is the current fitness director for
Red Bull New York , (formerly the Metrostars), ofMajor League Soccer in theUnited States . Pierre Barrieu was also the United States and US Olympic team Head Strength and Conditioning coach for four years. His first assignment with theUS Soccer Federation was working with the U-18 United States. Barrieu was then named the United States strength and conditioning coach for the 2002 Gold Cup. Barrieu was the conditioning coach for the United States in the2002 World Cup , in which they reached the quarter finals. Pierre Barrieu was in charge of men's soccer as well as men's and women's tennis programs at theUniversity of Virginia . In 2001, Barrieu helped guide the University of Virginia men's soccer team to a record of 17-2-1, 6-0-0 in theAtlantic Coast Conference . His strength and conditioning regimen helped propel the University of Virginia to become the first team in Atlantic Coast Conference history to win a regular season championship after winning all of its games by shutout. He spent time studying and learning with many clubs in Europe. He also helped to train clubs throughout Europe, includingAS Nancy andFC Metz in France andReal Sociedad in Spain. He started his first season with Red Bull New York as fitness coach. Pierre Barrieu published a book in January, 2007 called " _fr. De l'entrainement à la performance Tome 1" ("From Training to Performance", Volume 1), which talks about training to becoming a good player with good performance.External links
