Willows Football Club

Is a local community focused club, which was founded in 1988.

The club has grown significantly since then and now has over 300 members. We now 17 teams playing in the club, 15 of these being schoolboy teams. The majority of our members are from the Finglas, Glasnevin and Ballymun areas, however some players travel to training and matches from further afield.

Our home ground is Poppintree Park where we have two 11-a-side pitches and a 7-a-side pitch. In order for our club to continue to grow and flourish it is essential that we have a facility that we can call home.

Having just received planning permission, it is envisaged that we will be in a position to develop the site previously occupied by The Oakwood Residents Association on Jamestown Road and work can begin on developing our new sports complex. During the coming season we may have to relocate to other pitches within Poppintree Park whilst new pitches are developed on our behalf. We hope that our new and upgraded pitches will possibly be available to us in the near future.

With the ongoing housing developments in the surrounding areas, more and more players will be joining the club and additional teams will be registered with the various leagues in Dublin. As a result more adults are needed to help coach and manage the schoolchildren of the area. Should you be interested in joining the other 40 plus volunteers in helping the development and skills of these young people please go to the contact us icon for details.

I would like to thank all our coaches and committee for all their hard work in the past and express the clubs gratitude for their continued commitment going forward. On behalf of the club I wish all our players and teams success for the coming season and more importantly enjoyment playing the beautiful game.
