Flyforbeans is the proposed brand name for a prospective airline to be based in Wales originally intended to commence operations from Cardiff International Airport.cite web | url= http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_east/6500085.stm | work= BBC News | title= Budget airline to launch routes | date= 28 March 2007 | accessdate= 2007-07-02 ]

History

In June 2007 the company applied to the Civil Aviation Authority for its Type A Operating Licence, to allow it to operate both scheduled and charter flights from Cardiff.

Origin of name

The name comes from an idea by the managing director, who was in a market in Provence, France and overheard someone saying "I got my flight for beans!". [cite web | url=http://www.flyforbeans.com/faq.htm | title= flyforbeans FAQ]

Future plans

Flyforbeans claimed it would operate three Boeing 737-300 aircraft. It planned to serve destinations in France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Eastern Europe; while trying not to duplicate destinations from Cardiff. The airline said it had identified many European destinations, of which more than twelve would be served initially, gradually adding further destinations. The airline indicated that it would be aimed at both leisure and business users.cite web | url= http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0200wales/tm_method=full%26objectid=19276314%26siteid=50082-name_page.html | work= icWales - Western Mail | title= Flyforbeans has 12 destinations on its radar | date= 11 June 2007 | accessdate= 2007-07-02 ] The actual destinations and launch date were not announced.

FlyForbeans have a [http://www.flyforbeans.com/blog/ 'Blog'] on their website, which documents their progress up to launch. Entries to the blog appeared to cease in June, 2008.

The airline claimed to have delayed commencing flights/ticket sales again due to their CAA license still awaiting approval and their acquisition of aircraft. Ticket sales, according to their website, were to begin in April with flights beginning in June 2008. One of the possible routes was Malta, as the Malta Airport website said flights from Cardiff to Malta would start in September 2008.
