Erivan Haub (1932 – ) is the one-time owner of
Tengelmann Group , Germany's largestfood retailer .Biography
Erivan Haub was born on 29 September 1932. His mother Elizabeth originates from the Mülheimer entrepreneur family Schmitz Scholl, the owner family of the retail trade company Tengelmann. After the
Second World War Haub was placed on the board in 1952. Afterwards he completed two commercial training programmes with theJewel Tea company inChicago and with the alpha beta company inLa Habra . After his return toGermany he studied political economics at theUniversity of Hamburg . After the death of his uncle,Karl Schmitz Scholl , in March, 1969 he became Tengelmann's exclusive Managing Director. In 2000 Haub retired leaving sons Karl-Erivan, Georg and Christian to run the company.Tengelmann group
Haub concentrated the Tengelmann group business on the
retail trade withconsumers . Under his guidance Tengelmann expanded, and in 1971 it was taken over the retail chainKaiser's coffee business AG . 1972 Haub created "Einzelhandels' discounter plus."Fact|date=February 2007 In the subsequent years it focused the development of theinternational business . In 1979 they took over the majority ofGreat Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc. inNew Jersey .Honours
Haub received the Distinguished Service Cross 1 in 2004.
