Shelton traveled fromCorbin, Kentucky where he worked as abarber to Bristol for the sessions with gospel singer and preacherAlfred Karnes . Four of the recordings survive today, "Darling Cora", "Pretty Polly", "Oh Molly Dear" and "Cold Penitentiary Blues". He never recorded again.
