In the legislature

During the 2007 session of the Maryland General Assembly Delegate Kirk was the primary sponsor of a bill that guaranteed surviving dependents of police and fire personnel the same workers' compensation benefits as the individual received at the time of death. She was also a member of the committee's workers' compensation subcommittee from 1995 to 2003 andits real estate & housing subcommittee, from 1999 to 2003. She is also a member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
