- Tomasso Aldrovandini
Tomasso Aldrovandini (1653-1736) was an Italian painter of the
Baroque period. Born inBologna to a family of painters, he mainly learned from his uncle,Mauro Aldrovandini , and was called to fresco the Sala del Consiglio inGenoa (destroyed by fire). Also worked inGermany . He was the son of Giuseppe, cousin ofPompeo Aldrovandini , and sibling of Domenico.He mainly painted perspective views and architectural subjects (
quadratura ), in which the figures were painted byMarcantonio Franceschini andCarlo Cignani . He decorated churches, palaces, and theaters inForlì ,Verona ,Venice ,Parma ,Turin ,Ferrara , and Genoa, and especially in his native Bologna. Page 16References
