Norris' studio practice is a hybrid of
photography , installation,video andsculpture and has been shown in the Americas, Sweden and theUnited Kingdom . Norris was included in theBoston Center for the Arts ' 35th Anniversary Exhibition in 2006-07. TheMuseum of Contemporary Craft included Norris' work in their annual "Collaborations" show in 2007 and 2008. InOregon , he is represented byNew American Art Union , part of the Central Eastside Arts District. He received hisBachelor of Fine Arts degree fromMassachusetts College of Art studying withAbelardo Morell andLaura McPhee .In 2003 Beta-lactam Ring Records released Norris' compilation "The Tribryd Installation Soundtracks". This collection of soundtracks, based on his photographic works of the industrial Pacific Northwest, included work by composers Scanner (
Robin Rimbaud ), Asmus Tietchens, Christian Renou (Brume ), Illusion of Safety and Marc Behrens among others. In 2006, Innova Recordings released a follow-up of mixed, reconstructed versions of these works by eleven additional sound artists includingNobukazu Takemura , Andrew Lagowski (Lustmord ) andTroum . Norris is currently collaborating with Swedish composerLeif Elggren .oundvision
In 2002 Norris founded his signature gallery, Soundvision, which focused on sound-related work, installation and performance. Soundvision was recognized as one of the "10 Best New Places in Portland" by "
The Oregonian ".Fact|date=July 2007 The gallery featured audio/visual and multimedia work with a focus on installation, 2/3D by artists includingTerre Thaemlitz ,Cary Leibowitz , andJanek Schaefer . It hosted a series of performances called "soundBYTES" which included work by Belgian composervidnaObmana , Twine, Illusion of Safety and the spoken word collective Spare Room (Portland, OR).
