The village contains a couple of hotels. One exclusively serves the German market (Aldiana). The beach is linked to the beach in la Linea therefore it is possible to see
Gibraltar (a British overseas territory)Alcaidesa is only partially developed in accordance with its development plan. It currently offers one retail outlet (DragonFly supermarket), but a further mall is in the process of construction. The German Hotel (Aldiana) dominates the small urbinazation and is probably the main source of income of the area.
Crime rates are still notably very low. This is mainly due to the effectiveness of the local security but also as the area is undeveloped.
Currently there are only 2 restaurant/bars in the village. Both are located in the main square and offer seating both indoor and outdoor. The Dragonfly bar serves typically spanish fare and has a 2 for 1 drink happy hour at 6 pm. Toros, the second restaurant serves international cuisine and is slightly more expensive.
A shopping centre is in built, with many units to let, but has not been completed yet.
